The insight was such a great experience which gave me a true insight into the way a global commercial law firm operates. Not only did we get to experience time in our allocated seats but we were also given insight sessions to get a well rounded insight into the work that the firm does.
The three weeks have been really good from the very beginning. The program is engaging and you are always doing something as there are so many activities to do and you can ask for more work from your line manager if you have nothing on and they will arrange something.
I absolutely loved the insight I received throughout the internship. The most fulfilling part of it was the level of commitment Grad Rec had when designing the program to ensure that we received the largest spread of knowledge we could receive. We had regular Practice Group Insight sessions from partners in various offices (including Hong Kong!) who gave detailed breakdowns of their roles and groups.
I really enjoy the three weeks I spent at DLA Piper. I got the opportunity to experience life as an intern, performing tasks similar to what trainees are expected to be doing during their training contracts. I enjoy speaking to people in the different departments and also getting expose to different kinds of work throughout my time in the office.
I have extremely enjoyed my experience at DLA Piper as constantly felt included and supported even in the most challenging aspects of the job. Although we only are interns, we could feel that the firm values us and welcomes us which ultimately makes us feel more comfortable to provide a higher quality of work and be more productive.
I really enjoyed the DLA Piper vacation scheme. The first week was a nice gateway with all 100 interns in the London office participating in networking sessions and listening to talks by various partners and guests in order to understand the firm's identity. The final two weeks were spent in two practice area seats where we got to do real work in order to assist clients. This was a valuable vacation scheme and helped developed my skills greatly.
A really well-organised placement with a lot of valuable opportunities to get a real perspective of how the firm works on a day-to-day basis. Everyone was lovely and the culture and community at the firm is always so positive. You get some really quality work and meet a lot of great people.
I have very much enjoyed my time at DLA, not only did I get given the opportunity to work on real and current cases doing meaningful work, but everyone I have met over the course of my time here has been welcoming, helpful and considerate of my lack of experience and actively attempted to help me learn and develop over the course of my placement.
DLA offer a well planned and structured insight into the firm. The partners, employees and graduate recruitment team are all very friendly and welcoming. I thoroughly enjoyed my insight at DLA, and felt like a genuine member of the team by the end of my placement.
I enjoyed this internship a lot. For starters we got to have an induction week in the London offices, and meeting the graduate recruitment team and the interns from all the other UK offices was a fantastic experience. The whole internship was very structured and organised, insuring that we got to experience both the company culture and the actual work done in the offices as well.
I have really enjoyed my 3 weeks at DLA Piper and have found the three weeks to not only be professionally rewarding but also personally rewarding. I have been able to interact with 100 like-minded individuals who are on the cusp of embarking on their legal careers and being able to speak to so many people from such a wide variety of backgrounds meant I really enjoyed my time at DLA. I have also learnt a great deal about the commercial realities of the legal industry that I would not have been able to learn elsewhere.
I found this experience to be very enjoyable. The first week was a good introduction to the firm and allowed us to gain an insight into the different experiences and opportunities. I especially enjoyed the next two weeks, working in departments and getting to meet the teams, as I was given interesting work to do. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here.
Valuable insight was given both into the work done and the culture at the firm. The first 4 days of induction does, at times, feel a little excessive but it is a good way of warming up the people for the vac scheme and the work. Its hard to pick between doing a quick on the job induction and allowing more time for work and doing an induction like at DLA Piper.
I had the best time at my DLA Piper Vac scheme. The work was so diverse, I never did the same thing twice. It is three weeks of fast pace learning about the culture of the firm, and what life is like as a practicing commercial lawyer in the worlds biggest global business law firm.
The scheme has exceeded all my expectations with respect to both enjoyment and insight. Each week has been slightly different and I have enjoyed each for slightly different reasons. Week 1: The induction in London was a brilliant opportunity to get to know the firm itself as well as the interns i would be working alongside. The presentations and workshops were all exceptionally interesting and the whole process ran very smoothly. It allowed me to feel more relaxed and prepared when I arrived at the Manchester office. Weeks 2 and 3: Weeks 2 and 3 have been focused on us spending time in specific DLA departments. For me, these have been employment and real estate. The opportunities I have been given to get involved in real work as well as the opportunities to communicate with lawyers on a personal level have made these two weeks extremely enjoyable. I have been getting up in the morning looking forward to arriving at work and I think that says a lot about the quality of the scheme.
The three week summer internship placement was very enjoyable. There was a variety of activities arranged for us by the Grad Recruitment team; the induction week in London consisted of a variety of talks by high level partners including Simon Levine. Then the two weeks in our chosen offices where we spent each week in a different department. The team were lovely and very welcoming and it was exciting to meet such a wide variety from trainee to managing partners.
