    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my internship, I received so much exposure that I never thought possible for an intern. I was part of two brilliant teams who were both very supportive and a lot of fun, which made these 8 weeks fly by!

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was given important jobs to do, as opposed to just mundane jobs that needed doing. I was in charge of my own jobs and my own candidates which I really enjoyed.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The two supervisors I had during my time were both very helpful, no question was too silly to be asked or could be asked too many times. They both gave me a lot of exposure into the world of recruitment and both made me feel assured that I could always turn to them for any help or advice that I needed.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I felt busy most days, obviously this varied from day to day, where some days there was multiple interviews going on and other days none. But usually I always felt like I had a lot of things to be getting on with.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given more responsibility than I ever thought I would during an internship. I was given my own jobs to source and see through from start to finish, also dealing with leading my own interviews. I also had a lot of client exposure on a daily basis towards the end of my internship which was something I really enjoyed.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I felt I became more confident with talking to both clients and candidates and felt that it became a lot more natural to pick up the phone to talk to them. I got a lot of on the job training, learning new things from my supervisors showing me how to do things and learning that way which I found most helpful.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very friendly, yes there was a lot of stressful times, yet everyone still remained calm and did not ever take their stress and pressure out on their colleagues or people around them. The office always felt busy and lively with people constantly on the phones talking and chatting and joking amongst themselves.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I enjoyed the fact that my supervisor could choose what I did on daily basis, playing to my strengths and helping me develop in areas I was not as confident with. This allowed me the flexibility of what both of us wanted to do. The internship as a whole seemed to be organised well.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I think they have invested a lot in me, they have spent a lot of time training me in how they work on a day to day basis, trusting me with my own roles and talking to clients, which if these were not done correctly then this could have cost the business large amounts of money and revenue. so I appreciated the investments that they put into my time here.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing, I have applied to their graduate programme and would love to be accepted onto this. After having a brief taste of what it is like to work here I would love to be able to carry this on and continue to work here once finishing university, which I will hopefully do if I am successful at interview!

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I was in an office with two other interns and we all got a long well, went for drinks after work regularly. I also felt there was a good social scene amongst other colleagues too, there was often social events organised and there was often business development days where the whole office would get involved and enjoy fancy dress and work together in different teams than they usually would.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at my family home and luckily got a lift in with my dad who worked in a building very close to the one I was working in. Socialising in the area was not too expensive, relatively cheap for what it is.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Good nightlife, I have grown up in Leeds, the area where I was doing my internship, and so have experienced the night life here for a while, however, it was good to see a different side of the night life, seeing more the "young professional" places to go and experiencing them with my colleagues.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were some activities outside of work, however, not as many as I think other larger offices have. I played a netball tournament with my supervisor for her team that she plays for which was very enjoyable, but I think it would be very good if organise something with work for example a mixed netball team or other sports team for people to play sport and socialise outside of the office in a sporting environment.
