The Role
I felt like a very valued member of my team and was felt welcomed as I settled in
I was under the impression the internship would be quite well structured but it was actually left up to me to get the opportunities to actually get involved in different tasks. I didn't think this was the best way to do it as I obviously didn't even know what things I could ask to be part of or who to actually ask to get involved in certain things.
Some days I was very busy, other days I found myself searching for tasks to do
It was left up to me really. Again it was a bit misguided as I thought my job spec was what I was expected to be doing but apparently my manager was disappointed at the end that I didn't go above and beyond my job spec in a 2 month internship which I thought was a bit harsh for a summer placement when I was told the work I did do was exceptional. Especially considering what I was being paid for my time. I feel as though there was definitely some miscommunication within the internship.
The best part of the placement was the transferrable skills I have learnt in this role. From effective selling and communication through cold calling and relationship building to time management in effectively planning out my days to get the most out of the time I had in terms of getting work done.
The Company
Great atmosphere with lots of very chatty, friendly people
Understandable as I was only there for 2 months and again it was left up to me to take the opportunities which I was only made aware of at the end. Had I known that originally I would have asked for much more to do.
I don't feel as though it is for me for a future career
The Culture
There were only 3 other interns there so no big intern nights out! And my team consisted of 3 people so again not much chance of many big social events, but other teams in the office often went for a quarterly bash that sounded really good.
n/a as I lived at home
n/a
once or twice, but it was difficult to attend due to being dependent on the train times when travelling to and from work.
