The Role
The eight weeks working at Page have been so enjoyable, and the time has gone so quickly. The whole package of the work, the team and the culture of the company is what together make the experience and there is not one individual part that stand out as being the best and all areas were very well put together.
I work within a team of 15, all the people in the team are young, fun and are all friends rather than colleagues. Although all the team were close I was immediately involved in all the after work socials and activities which made me feel a bigger part of the team. Whole company event also enabled me to make friends with other people outside the team aswell.
At the beginning of the 8 week internship we had a 2 day intense sales training course which covered the basis of the sales technique they used. We were in small groups and carried out a range of roles plays before undertaking the real thing. We were also given a internship booklet to assist us with the rest of the internship. Aswell as this all of my collegues were happy to help with teaching me through the computer systems and processes used within recruitment.
How busy I was on a daily basis varied, I felt like at the beginning I was very busy and I was still learning different parts of the recruitment process, however it did get to a stage where I was running out of things to do towards the end as I undertook processes quicker however as an intern had restraints on how much more I could do.
As a intern I was given pretty much half the responsibility that you can have within the recruitment process and was given responsibility of sourcing new good candidates and then assisting my colleagues by finding candidates to fill for there jobs that they have on. This included sourcing, telephoning and interviewing and registering new candidates and then referring them to my colleagues
The skills I have developed through this internship is a increase confidence, through talking on the phone so many different people each day on the phone and face to face it helped me speak with confidence to unfamiliar people. I have also improved my time management through planning my days out in order to hit targets and get my work done.
The Company
The atmosphere was a very lively and sociable, the office was very large and open with 10 people on each line of desk. People would chat and joke with each other in between doing there work and there was also week meeting at the end of the week where the team would round up the performance each week which meant each week ended on a high and left everyone motivated for the next week. Over all brilliant environment to work.
The 2 day training course and the internship handbook were very well organised and really did assist me with what was expected throughout my time there. However the end half felt slightly more disorganised and it was more dependant on yourself to find work to do and for what else you would like to achieve.
In terms of personal investment, members of my team gave me one on one training to teach me the different processes with in the company. They would then support me step by step throughout the process until eventually being able to carry out processes myself.
Company Parties/Events
As a graduate I feel there a great promotional opportunities within the first few years of working within page group as promotion is determine by certain target you need to hit. However after a certain point I am not sure how good the opportunities seem compared to other industries.
The Culture
The social scene was excellent. With my team, the interns and the whole of the finance department I have been involve in a variety of different social events which have been organised but also just involved to going to the pub downstairs from the offices. Could not of been any better had so much fun in everything I have attended
I have to move down to London for my internship, as I had not family around here it involved me renting in student accommodation as we found it difficult to find an 8 week lease, therefore this ended up being expensive. Socialising was also typical London prices but at the same time worth it for being in London.
There was a pub right underneath the offices ! this meant that on a Friday it was filled with everyone from work which was great. All the interns also organised nights out on a few Thursdays and we went to clubs around Covent garden which was also really fun.
There was one evening which was a dodge ball event where we were all split into teams within the finance sector this was really fun and also helped me bond with people who weren't in my team. Also there was a summer BBq which was all a really nice activity.
