    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Absolutely loved my time working at PageGroup. I felt that the programme was both challenging and enjoyable, and I learnt so much about recruitment, and the world of work.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues arranged to meet before I even started my internship. This showed that they really took interest in the fact I was joining their team, this also allowed me to bond with them before, and made me feel at ease on my first day. I was also awarded a fair amount of responsibility with showed me that my colleagues viewed me as a valuable member of their team

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had frequent 'catch ups' with my manager. I also had a mentor who I worked alongside, and could speak to and share any queries or concerns I had with her. I also received support from the Talent Acquisition team in their head office. I received fortnightly phonecalls, that were an opportunity for me to express my views on my internship, and a chance for them to monitor and track my progress. Lastly, in my final week, I was invited to a lunch conference with a manager from another discipline. During this meeting I was able to give feedback on the internship.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was very busy. I was always provided with a variety of different tasks to complete. This allowed me to stretch myself, and develop various new skills. It also meant that no day was the same, and I never felt bored or complacent.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I would say I was given a large amount of responsibility. I planned my own day, arranged my own interviews, and had my own candidate base.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I would definitely say that the skills I have developed and training I have received will enhance my studies at university, as I now have a clearer insight into both sales and retail.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere was incredibly positive. The office was a fun place to work, and everyone was so friendly.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I had a internship work booklet which provided me with a structure. My team were less structured, in that they increased the amount of work/level of difficulty based on how I was performing. I thought this was really good, as the internship was tailored to me.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I had two days of fairly intense training, which was really helpful and beneficial. Aside from that I completed an online training course using the e-learning software at PageGroup.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes I made a really good group of friends who were interns in other disciplines.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home. Socialising costs varied, depending on whether I bought myself lunch, or made it myself. I would therefore say that socialising costs can be minimized if need be, however I was fortunate in that I saved whilst living at home, so could spend up to £30 a week on lunch and socialising.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Really good, lots on offer, something for everyone.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were opportunities to play hockey, and also to join the gym below our offices.
