  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • All the employees were very friendly and I was comfortable with my job role.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Made me feel valued as we worked as a team. I helped with team projects and was appraised for the work i have done.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager and supervisor was very good at giving me advice when i needed it. They made me feel at ease to ask for help when needed.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was less busy at the beginning of my job as i was always learning. The more i learnt in my job role, I was capable to take on more projects.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I worked on the purchase ledge with another colleague were i had my own responsibility on non production invoices. Sending out the daily reports in the morning to the directors and managers was one the largest responsibility as these reports where essential for day to day performance updates.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Helped with time keeping, able to use my time more effectively as now I start university work from 9 in the morning like a normal full time job. Now i'm use to using my initiative as working in job they don't always tell you how to carry out thing step by step.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone in the office was very friendly and always willing to help if they could.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • At the beginning of my placement it wasn't as organised for example the previous placement student didn't know what my role was going to be so was unsure about what i needed to learn.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • My manager was good at training and developing me while on my placement. JCB allowed me to explore other areas of the business that i was interested in for example i had a few trips to the tax department to give me an insight of how tax worked in a international company.

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • They only employ 1st year students for the role i was undertaking. If i did want a job in the finance team I would just have to apply when a place was available, this was unlikely as the team turnover was low.

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • They arranged nights out which were very good as you were able to socialise with them outside the working environment. Met other placement students and became good friends.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It was very cheap. JCB offered me a room in one of their houses that accommodated students and other visitors at a very low price. The town i lived in was very small and quite cheap.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nightlife was quite poor as it was in a small town. Only one night club which wasnt very busy in the weekend. There were lots of local pubs available and a few restaurants

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • JCB ran a few clubs outside for example i was involved in the running club that took place every week after working hours. They also had football available and the JCB club which was a pub for the employees

    3/5
