The Role
Being based in group, I had a wide variety of tasks and the opportunity to visit many different areas of the business being involved with a variety of projects and teams.
The team was very positive, giving me the chance to not only assist them with tasks but I was given my own project to manage.
The support was always available when needed, one observation though is that for certain tasks there is no recognised SOP, however this is changing
As with any position I had quiet days at first but once I was given long running tasks to undertake I always had things to be doing and I had to manage my own time and prioritise some tasks giving me a great chance to develop time management skills.
I had responsibility over contacting and resolving issues with certain external and internal customers. I wouldn't have had the knowledge to take it any further only working in the department for just over 2 months.
My excel skills have increase dramatically. As with any company you appreciate the complexities of applying engineering in the real world but at JCB there are less road blocks for innovation than many companies.
The Company
The office is very large but everyone was very friendly and I became close to a few people as everyone is very approachable.
The HR department were very organised both contacting me and setting up the placement, my manager also took the placement very seriously and ensured that I had the correct tools available at all times.
The company gave me opportunities to learn new systems, they also involved me in new products for release and invested a lot of time giving me the change to see the operation of the different units.
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
I would very much consider JCB in the future, the organisation is growing and there are always opportunities to try new things
The Culture
Yes, we got on very well. My housemates in the accommodation provided by JCB are really nice people and everyone goes to the pub on a thursday
Uttoxeter is a cheap area of the country there is everything you need but it is a bit strange for me coming from a large city.
Average
JCB have a football and touch rugby social which anyone is welcome to join in with
