    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed the internship. Every day I was working on work which was of value to the company. It didn't feel like my time was being wasted. There was always something to do and the time flew by.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone was extremely friendly. I was included in any social activities that were available. I felt like a proper member of the team even though I was only there for a short while.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I felt like I was given lots of support by the other members of my team. If I didn't understand anything it was easy to go and ask someone for help. I had weekly meetings with my manager to ensure I was getting what I wanted out of the internship.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • How busy I was varied day by day. Some days I was very light on work and had to ask for it and other days I felt like I was never going to be able to get through it. It is important that if you feel you are too busy that you turn down work that is being given to you.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I feel like I was given quite a lot of responsibility. Some of the client related work was difficult to give me responsibility due to finding it difficult understanding exactly what was going on. However I was given responsibility in other ways such as organising a charity day for my team.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel like whatever job I get after the internship, lots of the skills I have learnt will help. I feel more confident talking to strangers and feel I have a much better understanding of the skills needed to work in an office.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone was very friendly and sociable. It is very easy to talk to anyone in the office as the whole office is open. I office was definitely the sort of place I would want to work in again.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There was good organisation to a certain extent however in order to have certain opportunities you may need to take your initiative to set them up. For example I wanted to have a chance to find out about another department in the company and I had to talk to a few people to set something up

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We got basic IT training, pensions training and legal and risk training. New graduates apparently get a lot more but I felt we had enough for the work we were doing. It was more interesting to get stuck into actual client work.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • 4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • 2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 5/5
