The Role
I very much enjoyed my placement at Keystone Group as i was received great experience from working within a successful company. The knowledge I gained here is of a very determining one as it will undoubtedly motivate me toward my final year studies as well as my future career path.
I felt very valued by my colleagues within my placement as I was part of a very determined team who supported each other very positively so that the best outcome could be in place for the company. From the start of my placement I was instantly made feel like a very valued member of the company,
My management and supervisors were immensely helpful at all times throughout my placement year. At the beginning I often struggled to gather what was required from me through my job role. Despite this, these struggles were soon adhered to as my manager had given me important advice which was to always ask questions if in doubt. I took this advice on board and any problems that I had a member of my team were always there to lend a helping hand. These can be seen as helpful learning curves that can only have an impact on the valuable experience I have gained since, not forgetting the important team member I have grown to become.
Keystone is a very busy, fast driven company so on a daily basis it appeared to be hugely busy. This meant that hard work was done from the start to finish of every day. When I started my placement within Keystone, I soon learned there were particular skills that appeared very important for a day in the life of work. One of these appeared to be communication. As Keystone was such a busy environment, it was vital that communication was completed effectively with both team members and customers so that the correct information could be gathered. It is believed that communication is the life blood of an organisation.
When I had started this role, I was set out clear guidance on the specific objectives and roles in which I was responsible for. Throughout this role, I was responsible for many different tasks one of which was completing lintel quotations. This was one of my main duties as it was my job to ensure that engineers drawings sent to me were inputted correctly with the exact details and prices included. It was important that this was completed with total effectiveness because if a specification appeared to be inputted incorrectly, the wrong lintel may be designed which wouldn’t suit the specific building it was designed for.
Completing placement within Keystone has proven greatly that I have developed personally and professionally. I am certain that I will not only take with me the experiences and skills I have gained but also the knowledge and insight through a popular yet successful company. Taking a year out of university to enter the ‘real word’ seemed very daunting at the time, but it has proven to be a rather positive decision as this will give me a huge boost in starting working life when I finish University.
The Company
Great, positive working environment which resulted in a positive outlook for the office.
I received a lot of hands on training from the company as well as many meetings and presentations to ensure I was fully aware and confident in my job role. Not to mention tasks such as safety trials to ensure I felt safe and secure throughout my placement,

The Culture
There was a great atmosphere between the placement students as we got on great and it was good to have something in common with fellow workmates.
Lived at home and traveled to placement. This was a 30 minute journey.
No nightlife. The nightlife in this area would be quiet throughout the week. Also, i lived 30 minutes from placement so there would have been no need for me to have a nightlife in the area of my placement year.
Sports and Social club which included many activities which were great for team bonding.
