The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Keylite. The work was enjoyable and the staff welcomed me into the team with open arms.
I felt very valued as I had an important role within my team.
For the first few weeks I shadowed my colleagues as I learned the role. Once I started doing the work myself, my management were alway's willing to give me advice and guidance anytime I needed it.
My workload varied depending on the time of the month. The start of the month was generally more busier than the end of the month. I was always able to find work to keep my busy.
Before I began placement I had imagined that I wouldn't have much responsibility, however I was proved wrong. I had a lot of responsibility working with Keylite as I was in charge of the purchase ledger.
I worked closely with the company accountant and received a great insight into the role of an accountant and now feel this is the path I wish to follow. I feel that my work ethic has improved as I go into my final year of university. I now know what career path I want to follow so I will be more focused in my studies now.
The Company
I felt everyone got on with each other which is essential to create a good working environment.
I thought the placement was very well set up and organised as I always had work to do and my job was defined clearly for me.
I was given an induction in the first week of my placement. I learned all about the company. I was given training for my role at the beginning of my placement as well. Any time I need help thereafter, someone was always available.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
If given the opportunity I would be more than delighted to rejoin Keylite as I had a fantastic experience in my placement year. The company is growing so there may be more roles created within the finance department in the near future.
The Culture
Yes I felt all the placement students got on really well. We had some activities outside of work like football after work. We also had some nights out together.
I lived at home so didn't have to pay any rent. The cost of living is very reasonable.
I thought the night life is very good around Cookstown as there are a number of bars and some of the best nightclubs in Mid Ulster.
Yes, we had a social club as well as football after work on a Thursday evening.
