    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really enjoyed the variety of the work, I wasn't just given one 'summer student' job to get on with.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt like I had just started a proper job there - I had real work to do and felt I could help people.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had a mentor/buddy within the department who I chatted with every day and I had progress meetings with my supervisor every month or so. It was easy to talk to people.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Projects was a good department to work in, they made me feel welcome and had good banter!

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They will put you through your offshore training which is a huge benefit for when you graduate. I got to travel to Denmark to inspect the progress a contractor was making, and they made sure I was involved in a lot of other work so I could learn more.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    International Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Well I've been offered a job so that is pretty good! It is basically a summer long interview and if they like you, you are in without anymore interviews. It is a massive company as well.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was only two students in the whole Aberdeen office, but lots of young graduates.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Pay was well, but Aberdeen is quite expensive.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Aberdeen is alright, it isn't a big city though so be prepared if you are moving from London.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Probably more if there were more students - I know this is something they are trying for another year.
