The Role
The job could be tedious during 'slow' periods in the office
The more work I offered to take on the more valued I felt, I did not feel valued for day to day work.
Basic support, such as health and safety information, was very through. More detailed guidence took place in the handover period of the placement, a lot of lerning took place through trial and error
This job definatley had extremes!! especially at the year end, things were particularly manic in the office.
Responsibility gradually increased through out the year, although great leaps were made when other members of staff were off sick.
certain skills, such as organisational skills will be usefull for the rest of my life. It also gave me and interesting insight to the office environment
The Company
The office was a very quiet, serious environment, although there was the occasional birthday cake to brighten things up.
The placement was fairly well organised, with dedicated Human Resources personnel, however the quality of the placement did depend on the department allocated
the company invested in two traing days, as well as a day induction on arrival.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Personnaly I am unsure about returning to this company as the departments i am interested in are not open to graduates.
The Culture
There were a few social occasions for the students at the company, mainly focused around the handover period. Students are split between different departments so it can be difficult to arrange social outtings
Leatherhead is a very expensive place to live, this lead to most of the students living further away from the office to afford accomodation. the long coomute was not helpful when organising social activities
Nightlife in Leatherhead is non existant!! however it is very close to london with good transport links
Activities on offer included volunteering days and a couple of sports teams
