    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I quite liked the insight day at Hymans Robertson, I was one of the few who attended and I found all the different activities organised for us interesting. It was very engaging and useful in terms of getting an understanding of what the company does and what the everyday responsibilities are.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • As there were only a few of us at the insight day, I felt valued and my presence there was appreciated. Everyone was very nice and comforting, and willing to answer any questions you may have. As people likely to apply for graduate jobs in the next 1 or 2 years, our opinions and observations about the firm were welcome and the organisers were keen to make the event as interesting and positive an experience as possible.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Just enough. Any questions we had were answered promptly and to the best of the organisers' abilities. The event was organised quite well and all of us felt at ease to speak to different people and discuss professional matters openly. Overall, the guidance I received was enough and everyone was very helpful.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I found everything I learnt at Hymans Robertson helpful, whether it would assist me with my studies or just with the decision of whether this is the industry I would like to develop a career in. We were able to speak to people working in different departments in the firm and explore what each of their job involves.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was well structured and organised in an easy way to follow. Most of the time we spent in the same room, being involved in various activities (team games, quizes, etc.). However, it would have been nice to get a tour around the office as that was not included in the insight. It was pretty much stationary.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was relaxed and not overly formal. The organisers were very friendly and talkative, we were given the opportunity to network with a couple of people. Maybe for the future, I would love to meet even more people from the firm, as we only met 5 or 6 people from different departments.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As this was only a half-day insight day, we were not provided with any training related to any particular role. However, the event was well organised and it felt like the firm had invested some money in making it happen. Overall, it was a good experience and I would recommend attending one of these insight days.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • We were introduced to the different ways we can join the company and were given some information on 4 or 5 different roles within the firm. However, it was brief and I got an overall perspective of what the roles consist, but I would appreciate it if the event took longer, but was centred around particular job roles, so that we were all divided among different roles insights. That way we would be able to learn more about each role.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Considering the fact that it was just a half-day event, I appreciate it was difficult to get a full understanding of Hymans Robertson's culture. However, I feel like I did manage to get a sense of it through talking to the people working there. There was also an information session outlining the different components of the firm's culture. The only thing I noticed was that there was not much cultural diversity within the group of people I met.

    3/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Somewhat valuable. I got a sense of the firm's different departments and their responsibilities. I was interested by what everyone had to say about their day-to-day activities, but we did not get to see enough of each job role, as already mentioned. In this sense, there could be a bit more insight provided into each role. However, it feels natural as the event was only half a day long.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I already lived in the town where the insight was held, so I did not need reimbursement of expenses.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes, but they were limited.

    2/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • They could be improved for the future.

    2/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • No, I did not get the chance to.

    1/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes, I would recommend it, as you learn about the company and its business. It was an engaging, insightful and interesting event.
