I enjoyed it very much, i felt that it was very rewarding and I learned a lot from the experience. The skills i learned were very useful and will be used in life. I would definitely do it again and would recommend. The quality of the support from Lubrizol was very well organised and structured.
The variation of what I was doing throughout my two weeks allowed me to not get too bored, however, some of the jobs just weren't for me. Everyone I worked with ensured, as much as they could, that I had something to do at all times and that whatever I was doing was as enjoyable as possible
I really enjoyed my time at Lubrizol. The sports and social club had great events/trips throughout my placement including weekly badminton, laser tag. ice skating, go karting, horse riding, etc. These were either free or heavily subsidised. At lunchtime most students when to canteen for cooked meal/lunch which is heavily subsidised and socialise with other students from other departments.
I think it is safe to say I enjoyed this placement a great deal more than I was expecting. The job was interesting and varied, besides my more standard roles there were some genuinely exciting opportunities! The people all over the site were friendly and approachable, with enough people that you could work with a variety of different teams over the placement but not so many that I felt lost.
Enjoyed the placement. The site and colleagues were a huge positive to the placement. My confidence in working in an lab has increased significantly which will definitely support me going into my final year at university and then further in my career.
I thoroughly enjoyed my year at Lubrizol, no two days were the same and I was never treated as a 'student', just a regular employee. The site employs just over 20 students so there is a nice community onsite. The sports and social committee organise frequent events which provides an opportunity to develop friendships outside of work.
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement this year. The projects I worked on were very interesting and I had a good deal of independence through my year allowing me to develop my skills as a scientist, all the while having help when I needed it. It was a good working environment and I would happily go back.
I loved it. As I wrote in my end of year report for uni: I feel I have developed immeasurably as a person and as a chemist during the past year. I consider my time at Lubrizol to have been the most enjoyable year I have ever had.
The fact that I really didn't want to leave Lubrizol should give you a pretty idea of what I thought of the year! It's been a fantastic experience which benefited both myself and the company since from the outset you are not seen as a student; everyone treats you like they would any other employee which is one of the most important aspects of making an Industrial placement successful. With my particular job role I really enjoyed working with people from different countries on a daily basis to assist them with their technical problems since it really gives you a feeling of fitting into the bigger picture of the company as a whole instead of just supporting the local site in Hazelwood.
I really enjoyed my placement year at Lubrizol, all the projects gave me an opportunity to learn new aspects of the industry while improving engineering and personal skills. The atmosphere in the office was always positive and helpful and made the job very pleasant even on the most stressful days.
I thoroughly enjoyed the work on my placement. It was the perfect balance of lab and office work. The projects I worked on were both very interesting and completely new research that has never been done before, not standard routine tests. Meaning the work was different each day and never got stale or boring because you were never working on the same thing day in and day out every day, there was always a nice variety of work which I enjoyed extensively.
