I really enjoyed my placement. As expected, the work (chemical research) was very relevant to my degree (chemistry). The atmosphere in the office was fantastic; people were polite, positive and enthusiastic about their work. Having other students on the same placement was great as I knew we were all in the same position and were able to help each other. Many social events were organized, which helped me to get to know others that worked at the site of my placement.
I have really enjoyed my placement at Lubrizol, it has given me the opportunity to apply the knowledge i have gained from university and experience real life working situations. I worked on different projects accross the business which allowed me to meet a variety of people and learn different things.
I really enjoyed my placement at Lubrizol. I was given lots of responsibility over a wide range of interesting, technical projects. It allowed me to experience things that could only be done through working in the industry, things that wouldn't have been possible at university. This enabled me to enjoy lots of different experiences during my time there.
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year in the Product Safety and Compliance department at Lubrizol in Hazelwood. The placement as a whole has shown me different opportunities available for science-based degrees which don’t involve working in a laboratory. The placement has given me valuable experience essential for my future career path.
I have really enjoyed my year at Lubrizol working in the HR department. The team are so friendly and were always there to help me when I needed it. My work was mainly split between recruitment and training and development which was good as it meant I got to experience different functions within a busy global HR environment. I had the responsibility of leading my own projects which were sometimes challenging but rewarding and from this I have been able to develop many new and exisiting skills.
I had a very interesting year, I learnt a lot about the industry which is something we were not told much about at university. I found that a lot of the work I carried out I had never learnt at university, and generally all of the work was on a much larger scale.
A very mixed bag across the year, both good and bad, I enjoyed learning about the practicality of engineering within industry and seeing how it can be applied to a large-scale business, however, severe miscommunication, lack of steering and direction by support lines and management made the year unpleasant at times and caused a very uncomfortable atmosphere.
I really enjoyed my placement year at Lubrizol Hazelwood, having the opportunity and responsibility to work on a wide range of projects was a great challenge. I was expected and had to use my engineering knowledge and skills on a daily basis along with a team of engineers which helped me develop in all areas.
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at Lubrizol, the company really embraces the placement students and the team made me feel really welcome from day one. My role was constantly varied and developing making the year a really enjoyable and worthwhile experience.
I had a really amazing time on placement. The role was organic synthesis based and I was working on a project that really fit. As well as this I found that the chemistry I was carrying out was mainly reactions I had learned about in lectures. My lab and other management skills improved drastically and I felt that the work I did really helped the business.
I had a fantastic placement experience at Lubrizol; I was never made to feel like a student, from day one my department made me feel like one of the team. I was given a range of different opportunities to work on different aspects of HR with different members of the team within their specialisms.
Working at Lubrizol provided a fantastic opportunity to get fully involved in some real industry leading projects. The variety of work, challenges and responsibility made for a really enjoyable year. I was never sat around with nothing to do and was always deeply involved in projects, making the experience invaluable.
From day one, my new fellow employees were welcoming and encouraging which helped me settle in straight away and enjoy the environment both in the office and lab. I enjoyed producing results in the lab and being able to analyse the work that I had done so I could present it to my team.
Working at Lubrizol has been fantastic for my confidence and for gaining technical knowledge. Lubrizol was my first professional job in a corporate environment and it's great a great insight into what a relatively large company is truly like, I can't imagine working for a more friendly company like Lubrizol.
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement. I gained really good practical experience across a wide range of equipment including much larger scale kit than I had ever used at university. I also learned a lot about working in industry. My department and business segment, and the wider student cohort were all really friendly.
