I really enjoyed all aspects of my placement. I found the work I was doing interesting and enjoyed the challenge of continously having to develop my products, present and justify my chemistry and learn valuable chemical and lab skills.
I enjoyed the work experience very much as the work they do is very interesting and the staff are all really helpful and welcoming. The week i was with them for I found very rewarding as it was good fun and I have learnt a lot.
A brilliant company. Management superb, colleagues are lovely people- everyone was warm and friendly. I had a lot of fun over this year, despite health issues that arose. Sometimes the work was repetitive, but overall I can't fault the placement- a great year.
Although I was mostly doing menial jobs, there were plenty of opportunities to speak with lots of people within the department. They each gave me a detailed insight into their roles, and this was what really made the week for me.
i enjoyed my placement a lot, every area of work was very interesting in its own way, i felt welcomed by all of the friendly staff, and felt saddened when leaving the site for the last time. i would definitely take the opportunity to get work with them again.
On the whole, I enjoyed my placement. It has been a very valuable year. My laboratory skills have improved, as has my knowledge of analytical chemistry and time management. Certain aspects of the work were very interesting, such as: non-standard analysis with my supervisor, project work and other problem solving. The routine testing (which takes up most of the placement) is initially interesting whilst learning about the techniques, but can soon grow tedious with repetition. Tests that are more manual in nature can also be be quite labour-intensive when sample backlogs are large.
I've enjoyed the placement immensely and was fortunate enough to interact with a whole host of colleagues in nearly all departments present at Hazelwood. The staff at the site are all very welcoming and are keen to help out should you need help or advice. There were plenty of opportunities to improve and develop skills, as well as be introduced and learn new knowledge in areas not heavily accustomed to e.g. chemists understanding basics of automotive tehcnology.
I have enjoyed my placement, it has been a useful learning experience and I have found the work both interesting and varied. There are also plenty of things going on at lubrizol outside of the working day which I took part in.
