The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement with Mindshare. I really like that every day is different and you are constantly meeting new people, both internal and external. I love that there is a great balance between hard work and reward, and everyone is treated equally across the team.
I felt very valued to my team. Although everyone knows who their manager(s) are, It doesn't feel like there is a hierarchy at all. Everyone works together and helps each other in their teams. Despite being an intern, making teas and coffee's was most certainly not on the agenda. I was treated just like any other employee and given the same daily/weekly/monthly responsibilities as everybody else.
I was given a lot of support from all my managers, especially a the beginning of my placement. I met up with my Line Manager once a month to discuss my progress. I also met with another Manager most mornings to go over my to-do-list and prioritise my tasks. In addition to these meetings, help and support was always readily available whenever I needed it and the whole team were very supportive and were all keen to help everyone.
Day to day, I was always quite busy. There is no need to clock watch as the time flies by everyday! To the extent of how busy you are really depends on the time of the month and the time of year. For instance the first week of the month is always a very busy period due to having to complete the monthly reconciliations. And the time of year depends on how many of your clients want to launch different campaigns at the same time. It can be difficult to manage your time at these busy periods, but help is always around if you need it and your manager are always more than happy to help you manage your work load.
I feel like I was given just as much responsibility as any other employee. I do not feel that I was given less adequate work than the others in my team.
My skills have really strengthened this year which I think will hugely benefit me in my final year of studies. to name a few, I feel that I have learned: an eye for detail, how to better manage my time, how to prioritise work loads efficiently, how to cope in stressful situations. The list of skills I have learned could continue on and on. I think the best thing this year in industry has done for me is bring out my confidence and taught me how to work effectively within a team. I think this will massively help me in my final year, especially within group work projects.
The Company
The general atmosphere was always great in the office. Even during busy and stressful times, everyone would make the most of it and enjoy every day.
I think the Placement was organised very well. I was given all the necessary training to help me get started and I had constant support throughout my time at Mindshare.
I feel like I was invested in, just as much as any other employee. I was encouraged to sign up to as much training as possible and was put forward for much of it without the need to request it.

I would absolutely love to come back to Mindshare after graduation. Its such a great company to work for, the atmosphere is great, the location is perfect, I enjoy the role and I can see a career path within the company.
The Culture
As I started Mindshare 6 months after all the other placement students, I didn't really know the other Interns. However, we did go on some really run social together one of which included a Lazer Quest evening with Facebook.
I personally didn't really go out much on my own as I didn't know many people in the area. Having said this, due to working in Digital Media, Media Owners took us out quite a lot, which varied from dinner, to manicures to a very bazare Disney Sing-Along evening! All of which we did not have to pay for.
Mindshare is based in Central London, so i am sure the nightlife is fantastic, however I did not venture out into any of the night clubs, so you'll have to try it out and let me know!
I don't know if it applies to Placement students as I did not take advantage of the scheme, but Mindshare offer employees the chance to take a couple of days off to take part in a charity event(s) of their choice.
