The Role
I have had an amazing placement here, although I think this is really dependent on the role you're in and your team. I was really lucky to be working with a really lovely, friendly bunch of girls who were keen to help me learn and give me responsibility from the start. I would definitely like to return after graduating.
I got on really well with my colleagues and we spent a lot of time together outside of working hours too which helped us bond. It is a big company though, so sometimes you don't feel like you are recognised for your hard work.
I had appraisals every few months and set objectives which I aimed to achieve throughout the year. There is an online system which can collect feedback from colleagues, which is useful.
There are placement students working in different areas of the business and our workload varied a lot. I would regularly stay later and work through lunch on busy weeks however we are encouraged to leave work on time. I actually like being very busy so it was a good thing, however it was never an unmanageable amount of work.
A lot more than I was expecting! It was quite daunting at first when I started planning campaigns on my own after a few months and working with large budgets. Being thrown in the deep end was really good for me though as it meant I learnt a lot very fast.
Mindshare is great at training staff. We were entered to take the IPA foundation certificate which is industry recognised, and regularly had training sessions and talks to help build our knowledge. This will definitely be useful in my degree.
The Company
Really fun, laid back and sociable. We work hard but always have time to have fun.
It was really well organised, which was surprising as not many agencies offer formal placement schemes so I was really lucky.
They really value personal development, from things like paying for us to take industry qualifications, to having a fund for people wanting to learn things like languages or dance.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
Travel loan
They cannot guarantee a graduate job, however I will have such a huge advantage over other candidates when I apply for a grad job.
The Culture
I didn't see the other placement students that much as we were working in different teams, There was a great social team amongst my colleagues however.
Our office had a subsidised bar and canteen, however eating outside was quite expensive. Accommodation in London is ridiculously expensive but luckily I could live at home and walk to work.
Really great, the office is near Covent Garden, Soho and Oxford Street.
We had lots of social activities within the digital team.
