The Role
I have absolutely loved my time at Mindshare. I have worked on 4 different clients, all in different sectors, and have been fortunate to work with some of the best colleagues who excel in their individual fields.
I have received a lot of praise as well as valuable feedback from all of my colleagues, and have even extended my contract for 6 weeks until I go back to University.
I was originally mentored which helped set me goals and targets, and now there is a road path to help new joiners. This outlines what they should be doing when, and helps managers and the joiner set targets to achieve this.
During the first few weeks I wasn't very busy, however this was because I was still finding me feet. This gave me a lot of time to find out about the industry, speak to colleagues and media owners and learn as much as I could. I now am regularly busy as I work on 3 accounts, and also am required to self manage in many ways as different clients have different staff working on them.
When a major account left during the Christmas period and I was given a lot of responsibility helping the handover, be it sorting out finances, to collating all of the post campaign analysis sheets. I was in regular contact with finance and company partners to help make the transition smoother.
I have learnt a lot since joining Mindshare and have changed and developed a huge amount. I now know far more about the industry and channels and I know it first hand which will be hugely beneficial during my return to University. My experience will also hopefully ease my transition back into full time work after University as I hope it stands me in good stead at interviews.
The Company
The office atmosphere is busy (busy sums up everyones work load) but people are always laughing and overall there is a great sense of togetherness between colleagues. It's not as wacky as creative agencies but has a good balance of professional and "human".
The internship set up will massively improve now there is a road map, meaning targets and goals are set and these steps can be followed and monitored over time.
I have attended many workshops and training days. As the internship is a year it is important to have well trained interns who are capable to step up to a account executive role.

Working from home
I have had great feedback from my line manager, and am hoping there will be an opportunity to rejoin Mindshare after my studies. Things look positive.
The Culture
I haven't really socialised with my fellow interns as they work all over the office, however I do socialise with my team and we try to go out for beers on a friday where possible. I was also taken out for my 21st birthday and had a great afternoon/evening. It made my time at Mindshare extra special.
As it's in central London you have the London costs. Don't expect to afford beers every night, or to live within a 10 minute walk from work. I live an hour away in zone 4 as rent in London is rather high. I do however enjoy the hour commute as I can read on the DLR and to be fair transport is usually very reliable and regular.
London has some of the best clubs and bars in Europe. However they are also rather expensive to get into, and have massive queues. It's probably best to save up and go out in your home towns to be honest.
There are a few clubs (running club springs to mind), and Mindshare allow employee's to take a day off work, paid, to give something back (be it charity work, or a skills workshop).
