    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement at Keysight Technologies. I enjoyed working with different departments and being given tasks to challenge my skills and develop them. Being able to approach tasks in my own way, monitor my progress and trusted to deliver on activities motivated me to give a good result.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I most definitely felt valued by my colleagues. They came to me for advice on how to approach tasks from a marketing perspective. My work allowed me to deliver the end result in terms of raising opportunities for Keysight to develop upon in terms of events.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Encouraged to take my own initiative and handle tasks but guidance and advice given when needed or asked. All managers are very approachable and will help you where they can but will encourage you to learn for yourself.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Dependent upon the period and activities at hand. Working with partners and the more events taking place was a busier time. During the first 6 months of my placement I worked with the indirect channel of distribution working with partners for meetings and co-sponsored events, this role was a busier role. The next six months I took the role working with the direct side of Keysight, I was less busy however I had the project of developing social media as a new company, to fill my time.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A lot of responsibility in situations regarding events working with a lot of people, different departments challenging my time management and organisation skills. For example, I was in contact with many people to arrange 8 workshops in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland. I had to plan, prepare, organise and co-ordinate the workshops to make sure they were successful.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My organisation, time management, commercial awareness, communication skills and most importantly my confidence, have developed tremendously. This will be important in my further studies and career.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Overall there is a friendly, happy and positive atmosphere. There is a real sense of team, anyone will help where they can.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The organisation of the placement was set up well. My role was defined well, I had access to all parts of the company's system which I needed. I was given detailed information of everything I needed to know about what would be expected of me.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was approximately two weeks of training to understand the structure of the company and to be trained in my role. We also undertook online training to understand conducts and policies. I believe my personal development cam from my experience here.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Future employment prospects at Keysight look promising as they are trying to implement a Graduate Scheme. It is definitely a good company to work for. The majority of people here have worked here for long periods of time and have not thought to leave. The only barrier would be job openings. Otherwise I would apply.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes there was a good social scene among placement students and colleagues. I think this is dependent upon the interns. However there is a Keysight Technologies Sports and Social club which encourage people to socialise.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living in the area is quite expensive. I had approx half of my wage left after my outgoings a month and I don't have a car. This may be difficult. However it is doable to socialise in moderation in the area. It is a very student orientated area.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are a few clubs and bars in the area. I would say it is average as it is not a large city,

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes there are gyms and social clubs you can be involved in such as sports or music. This is entirely dependent on what your looking for.
