    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Keysight has a great work environment that develops you personally and professionally.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt valued at all times, no one treated you like an 'intern'. Great worth ethic and attitude with all colleagues.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • 1-1 sessions occur frequently enough for issues to be discussed and address. However, in between these times, it is very easy to ask for help or guidance.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Like all work environments you have some days that do not feel very busy, then there are some days you start at 9, blink your eyes and its home time. The majority of the time I felt busy and productive.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I managed my own projects, determined how it went and other operational roles I held the same responsibilities as permanent staff in these roles

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have a far better understanding of engineering, also the soft skills developed are great assets to my career progression.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Generally, people are really friendly, everyone greets each other in the morning. Random and interesting conversation occur on short breaks. During the day, there is a sense of people working hard, but there is always some laughter during the day. The office is not humongous so you tend to feel like a rather large family.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement is well organised, but far from rigid. The student is given options and room to pursue their own engineering interests and get involved in projects that don't necessarily align with their degree discipline.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • You go through 2 months of intensive theoretical and technical training, this brings everyone up to speed. On top of this training is given in the key soft-skills, with many opportunities to practice and gain feedback. The expertise of the people is phenomenal so if you need some help or additional training that is easily arranged.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Above 25 days holiday

    Healthcare/Dental

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I believe that the placement has gone well. I hope to work with or at Keysight in the future. I think there are many opportunities within the organisation in various departments.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • This year we have had a great group of interns. we have been out bowling, out for drinks, dinners, celebrated birthdays together. I have made some great friends.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It can vary, however as it is the south of England you can expect the higher cost of living compare to the North. being 45 minutes drive, and 30 mind train from London does see that cost appreciably higher. Nevertheless, it has worked out well.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Keysight is located within an industrial park - so no nightlife. However with a short train ride to Bracknell, Reading or Wokingham, you can find a spot for everyone to have a good time, depending on their taste.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, there are plenty of opportunities but that depends on the interns if they wish to do something separately. There is also a sports and social club which organised events for the office to take part in.
