The Role
I really enjoyed programming in a work environment, learnt so many things over my year in industry
I felt that everyone was valued within the programming department and individual agile teams
There was always support available either by other team members, although did feel a bit thrown in at the deep end in first couple of weeks,
There was never really nothing to do, always something to be worked on which was balanced very well between admin and programming (Which was mainly programming work)
Quite a lot in the end as you seemed to naturally specialise in a specific area, which over time you gained more responsibility to do aspects.
It has set me into a workplace mindset so I have been able to apply this to my final project at university, this has given me a lot of experience, which I can use going forward to show that I can apply what I have learnt into the real world.
The Company
It was generally relaxed and a pleasant place to be, around deadlines it got a bit heated but nothing that was too stressful
It was very well organised I believe the induction process was very beneficial and set up the role nicely
Being able to pick up new skills from existing employee was very benefictial in expanding my personal development, which I have bene using towards my final year project.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Financial Bonus
Healthcare/Dental
They are very appealing and something that I would like to go into in the future if the position is available
The Culture
Yes there was a good social scene amongst the programming team, for both existing colleagues and new placement students, especially duirng the placement student changeover
It was fairly cheap, I commuted as its not that far from where I live, but from the other students it seemed fairly cheap to rent a house, although a little in the middle of nowhere.
N/A
Yes there were sports clubs and other activies available
