The Role
Education City made me feel very welcome and treated me as any other employee.
I regularly keep in contact with many of my colleagues at Education City even a year after.
I was given support on all of the projects that I was involved in but I was still encouraged to get involved and try to solve problems myself.
Occasionally there were short delays while waiting for a project specification but there was always the right amount of work to fill my time and I rarely felt like I had too much work.
I was regularly given responsibility to get on with large projects but I always had a team leader to report progress to and help the projects stay on track
The majority of work used skills gained during the first 2 years of my degree and stretched these with real world scenarios
The Company
The office was light hearted and fun but also hard working. We also regularly met up after work at the pub. Work hard play hard sums it up.
You are given full support and at any time can have information on the structure of the placement. Due to the nature of the work, it may not always be known what projects you will be working on but they are always enjoyable.
The team leaders and other members of the team are always willing to give help and support with any problems that you are having. The training is very much hands on and involved meaning that you can quickly apply any training and previous knowledge
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Healthcare from home
I received good feedback and feel that I could approach the company with good prospects of a job.
The Culture
We regularly meet up after work.
Rutland isn't the cheapest place to live but it is well within the means that the salary provides.
Oakham is not the most lively town but Leicester is only a short journey away.
There are a lot of events and groups in and around Oakham that you can always get involved in.
