The Role
Working at EducationCity was a brilliant experience, providing plenty of day to day challenges. Great company and great people to work with.
The people are what made my time at EducationCity so enjoyable, some really great personalities and many people on the team I was working directly with have a genuine interest in the field and new developments. Suggestions and comments were always taken seriously.
Support was provided as needed, especially at the start on the placement while leaning the systems.
Day to day there was almost always a stream of jobs that needed attention, rarely was I left with no work to be doing.
Over the course of my placement I have become familiar with many aspects of the systems in place, and quickly got less and less input from other people as my judgement and competency was recognised. As the placement progressed, I was also given lead roles on some larger projects.
The skills I have gained and improved during my time at EducationCity will undoubtedly be useful for the remainder of my degree as well as being of benefit in my future career.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was brilliant. With many people on the team taking a genuine interest in the industry and new developments there was always a new topic to discuss.
The start of my placement was somewhat slow, but during the course of the placement the company has requested feedback on the placement process and taken suggestions on how to improve it.
Training was provided where required.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare from home
I will be looking to see if there is a vacancy when I am coming to the end of my studies.
The Culture
There was always something to talk about with colleagues and the other placement student, providing work gets done.
Reasonable. Oakham is more expensive than some of the surrounding areas.
Oakham is a market town, with not much of a nightlife. Short distance to Nottingham/Leicester and Derby though.
Opportunities to get involved in team building and other activities are there/
