    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • Working at EducationCity was a brilliant experience, providing plenty of day to day challenges. Great company and great people to work with.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

    • The people are what made my time at EducationCity so enjoyable, some really great personalities and many people on the team I was working directly with have a genuine interest in the field and new developments. Suggestions and comments were always taken seriously.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

    • Support was provided as needed, especially at the start on the placement while leaning the systems.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

    • Day to day there was almost always a stream of jobs that needed attention, rarely was I left with no work to be doing.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

    • Over the course of my placement I have become familiar with many aspects of the systems in place, and quickly got less and less input from other people as my judgement and competency was recognised. As the placement progressed, I was also given lead roles on some larger projects.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • The skills I have gained and improved during my time at EducationCity will undoubtedly be useful for the remainder of my degree as well as being of benefit in my future career.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • The atmosphere in the office was brilliant. With many people on the team taking a genuine interest in the industry and new developments there was always a new topic to discuss.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

    • The start of my placement was somewhat slow, but during the course of the placement the company has requested feedback on the placement process and taken suggestions on how to improve it.

    • I will be looking to see if there is a vacancy when I am coming to the end of my studies.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • There was always something to talk about with colleagues and the other placement student, providing work gets done.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

    • Reasonable. Oakham is more expensive than some of the surrounding areas.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?

    • Oakham is a market town, with not much of a nightlife. Short distance to Nottingham/Leicester and Derby though.

    • Opportunities to get involved in team building and other activities are there/
