The Role
It was absolutely fantastic experience. I would recommend this placement to absolutely anyone.
I was extremely well guided with weekly catch up's and a large support network.
It's the fast paced nature of retail that drew me to this placement and it didn't disappoint. I personally hate being bored and having little to do so being busy and multitasking projects was fantastic.
I was given a large amount of responsibility from day one, taking on and leading projects. However I feel I was extremely well supported to ask for guidance along the way.
Despite the fact that not one moment of my placement related to my degree, I’ve gained what I hope are invaluable softer skills which will make final year a little easier. And, I’ve got a job out of it, so I’m in a previously imaginable situation where I don’t have to stress out searching for jobs in final year. I was also given the opportunity to take up any training that was available and therefore tailor training for my personal development goals.
The Company
All training available was elective rather than compulsory. It ranged from systems training (enabling access to internal reporting resources) to social media training (supporting Sainsbury’s integration into the social sphere). I was also able to take part in presentation skills, impact and leadership behaviour workshops.

The Culture
London is reknowned for being expensive and the salary is low so it was definitely tough.
