The Role
The work that I did provided a lot of scope to use skills and subjects that I had learnt at university. There was a lot of expertise within the company. It was an enjoyable experience.
My colleagues valued my opinions and were very helpful as I settled in and have been helpful since.
My team leader was very helpful in providing me with support and guidance as I settled in to the new work placement.
Some days were busier than others, depending on project commitments, but there was always some work that could be done
I was given quite a lot of responsibilty with respect to the project that I was involved in. I worked well with my team to complete set objectives.
The skills I have developed over the course of my placement have really helped my time management and organisation abilities, and this will transferable to the competence required for my degree course. I have also developed my confidence, creativity and improved my technical capabilities.
The Company
Generally professional, open and friendly
Quite well organised, I had the opportunity to become a STEM (Science Technoloy Engineering and Mathematics) ambassador and worked with local schools in the area. It was a great way to add to my technical skills, encourage younger students into engineering and do something different.
I had regular meetings with my team leader about my technical and personal development. I had access to a business mentor to help with my professional development also. It was another good opportunity to to have more experienced professionals work with me and help guide my development.

Healthcare from home
There is a competive graduate scheme available, it provides an opportunity to learn more about the company and be exposed to different departments within the company.
The Culture
There was a very good social scene with the other placement students, and we regularly went out together
It isn't the cheapest place to live, but taking advantage of deals and offers is always helpful
The nightlife was relatively decent, but some areas can be quite rough.
There were different activities available, and usually colleagues opened up invitations to try out different activites outside of work
