The Role
The work I did was relevant, challenging and enjoyable, regardless of the project. There was generally a positive attitude within the company, however, more could be done to improve the social atmosphere, inside and outside of the office.
Within my department, I felt very valued and I was quickly welcomed and accepted as part of the team but I felt as if certain individuals within the rest of the office lacked this mentatility.
The structure of the program has meant that I rarely feel isolated and that I always have someone that I can turn to for support. But there has been, on occasion, an issue with communication that has left me confused about how to advance on certain projects.
At the beginning of my placement there was a slight misunderstanding that resulted in me having very little work to do. But, since the issue was resolved, I had a considerable amount of work to be doing and there was always active support when the work became too much.
Between my department, the placement scheme and other projects, I felt I had a lot of responsibility and the nature of these responsibilities also varied from project to project. This allowed me to broaden my skills and capabilities.
The variety and depth of the skills that I learnt throughout my placement will help me dramatically whether they were practical or theoretical.
The Company
The atmosphere could be improved to be more social and enjoyable.
The organisation was very good, regular 1:1 meetings were arranged between my supervisor and myself, but I felt that commununication was sometimes an issue.
I was sent on multiple training courses to help increase my knowledge over a range of topics, not just to do with engineering but sometimes also to do with soft skills.

The Culture
As it is a relatively small group, we have all become quite close.
Distinctly average.
There was football on a Monday and climbing on a Thursday but a lot more effort could be put into improving this aspect.
