The Role
Enjoying it - been given a real-life project with a clear aim, which I will follow through from start to finish during the year.
Very friendly atmosphere, everyone I have met in the company has been happy to help
In a production environment colleagues very busy, which meant sometimes I was left to my own devices to solve problems. Sometimes this was not a bad thing as it let me explore rather than just being told what to do.
Very busy at times, but on the wole well balanced. If work was ever short, there was always something to do
Lots - project managing for a new piece of equipment which would be coming into the factory.
The Company
Good fun in the office, sometimes too fun! Self control necessary to ensure the correct balance, but not necessarily a bad thing. Good morale amongst employees.
Fairly well, with the occasional glitch. Very lucky to have a 'placement scheme' with other projects/training/developement activities rather than just being given a role within a department.
Very well, within weeks sent on a training course.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare from home
Appealing, large global company - lots of opportunities for a graduate. Company seems to be doing well.
The Culture
6 placement students in total, frequently spent time with each other out of works time, nights out etc. Most days have lunch together in the works canteen.
Socialising probably in the mid-range. Lived at home with parents so cost of living unrealistic!
Not bad, Cheltenham is a nice city - some areas to be avoided however (as with most cities I guess)
Yes - I currently go climbing with other Spirax employees every Thursday, there are football sessions, squash sessions and other activities which I know of, but am not involved with.
