The Role
The job and work environment were great! I have met so many people from employees to high profile clients - I had to really come out of my shell and this has helped me improved my communication skills massively.
there is a big management team so obviously it was a little difficult to gain their respect and trust in the beginning but gradually they realised we had to work together and that my position was significant. The managers i worked with on a regular basis were very supportive and always willing to help.
Due to the nature of my job I had to work very closely with all members of the management team and the directors of the company. This can be quite intimidating for some people but I felt very comfortable and secure in asking for help which they were more than willing to give. They are all very approachable and very friendly!!!
It differed from day to day and hugely depended on whether or not we had a big recruiment drive. I think it is safe to say I was always kept on my toes :)
The biggest responsibilty was recruiting the next group of placement students. This invloved tracking applications, telephone interviews, onsite interviews, offering the job and liasing with the manager in charge of the rota to see when we needed people in the business.
These are skills I will carry with me all through life. I have developed greatly, personally and professionally.
The Company
Great! Always good banter going on and a generally good vibe in the business. I think we all respect that we are at work for a reason and we just need to get on with it BUT there is no need to be miserable about it! :)
My position was new for the company in terms of placement so we just learnt as we went along. It is a work in progress.
I have attended at least 3 professional seminars on HR issues which have been very interesting and eye opening. They definately blew the text books out the water!
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
I don't think there will be an opportunity withing HR as my manager will be back from maternity leave but I have career plans that involve further education.
The Culture
I did not really socialise with other placement students as they did not feel comfortable going out with HR (we are seen to be the bad guys) I did however have a smashing time with some of the management team as we are all of a similar age (twenties)
It was a lot pricier than I expected but it is livable and everything is really close together so that cuts out teransport costs
Really good! People swarm to bournemouth for stag and hen parties - If you love a bit of fancy dress then this is the place to be!!!
Yeah as with any place you just have to look for it.
