The Role
The work placement was a learning curve as it provided me with a good opportunity to further develop my skills in a work environment. interact with many new people. It allowed me to interact with others, build friendships and networks.
They were all very friendly, accommodating and welcoming which made my transition into the business a lot easier. The working environment was enjoyable because of the diversity of the people that worked there. There were other students on placement who made my transition into the working environment easier.
The managers were all very supportive, understanding and available to clarify and explain any questions I had in more detail.
This varied depending on whether i had hit the daily targets earlier or later in the day. For days when clients were ready to make purchases it meant that i was busy and for days when clients needed more time or were not necessarily in the mindset to make purchases then i was relatively not busy.
I was solely responsible for liaising with businesses and finding packages that best suits their needs. This meant offering solutions that would raise awareness and generate the most traffic to their websites. i also provided any support that organisations needed like managing accounts to give them the most cost-effective deals.
The experience was eye opening as it showed that despite what you learn in university, training will always be provided by the business. Therefore you are constantly learning new ways to perform a task in a manner that best suits the business.
The Company
The environment was generally quite friendly. The team i was working with made it a fun and vibrant environment to be in. However, even with such a team, it was demotivating on days when we did not hit target. Especially when you are doing everything that you have been taught to do in the best way you know how.
They provide sufficient training especially because of the frequent changes the company makes. However, because the company is target driven there were changes made that made it unnecessarily difficult to succeed and enjoy the job role.
Specialised personnel were always in charge of training and making sure that employees were trained to the best of their ability. Astute invests a lot of time and effort into the learning and development of its employees.

Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
The placement made me realise that I would not want to undertake this job role in the future despite the opportunities that Astute provides.
The Culture
I was able to meet other students on placement as some were on my team and others through work events and night outs.
Bournemouth was surprisingly more expensive than i thought it would be however, managing expenses makes it easier to survive.
Astute offices are located right in the centre and within a walking distance of everything.
Bournemouth has quite a few activities that you can do and because its a student friendly city there is always something to do.
