The Role
Astute is a great place to work. When i first started everyone was really welcoming. There is a good social culture with lots of fun incentives and out of work activities such as sports and other activities. I enjoy it a lot as there is a great work/ social balance.
At work I was made to feel part of the team straight away and received training at the start and throughout my placement. There is always someone to go to for help. Everyone wants to help each other out to achieve the team goals. Everyone gets on well with each other.
I was given training at the beginning and throughout. This included call coaching, live feedback and other training. There is always someone that i can go to when i need help and it is really useful. There are fun work incentives and uncapped pay so the harder you work the more money you receive which is really rewarding.
I am constantly busy. We aim to achieve at least 150 calls per day and work hard to exceed this. There is never a moment when you are just sitting there getting bored as there are always people to call. I never feel like i am not working or not useful.
I am given a lot of responsibility at Astute. I am responsible for calling companies on behalf of Astute and the companies that work with Astute. I feel that i am providing a good service and am responsible for letting the businesses that i call know about the benefits of the products.
I feel that this placement has very much improved lots of my skills such as communication skills. I receive training such as live listening and call coaching to help improve by skills. These skills will be useful with my degree such as presentation skills and other group work activities that we do.
The Company
There is a great atmosphere in and outside of the office. Everyone is sociable with each other and get on well. Astute also offers the chance to do lots of activities outside of the office such as sports and activities. This is a great way to meet people when new to a placement.
The placement was very well organised. I am given my own desk and computer at work as well as provided with everything i need to do my job by Astute. When i first joined i had a group induction where i also met some other people that were on placements which made me feel more comfortable.
I received lots of training from sales and communication training to training about the specific products that i am pitching to the businesses. Throughout my placement i receive lots of call coaching and there is always someone to speak to after and during each call in order to help me through and learn for next time

There is lots of future employment prospects at Astute. Whilst working on the placement there are lots of promotion oportunities if you hit your targets and uncapped pay so the more you work and achieve the more money that you receive. This is very good and is motivation whilst working.
The Culture
The social scene is something very attractive about astute. There are socials and activities going on every week which is great whilst out of the office. These include sports and team incentives such as meals if hitting targets. It is a good way to meet people and others doing placements whilst at Astute.
Bournemouth is a town with lots of students so there was lots of cheap accommodation which is student friendly as well as house shares with other young professionals. Due to the university there is lots to do in the town and there is a good nightlife. Also the beach is good in the summer.
The nightlife is good as there is a big university in Bournemouth. There are a few good night clubs and lots of bars in the town center. There are all different types of music events including the o2 academy where there is lots of live music to go and see.
