    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my placement year in Lumesse and gain different experience and knowledge from my position. I am a financial system support analyst placement student and handling Oracle and Concur and many more application that the company use. I am pleased to develop my computing skills and learning new stuff here.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The office environment is good and everyone helping each other so we can work the issue or make things work. Besides that, communication is the most important in a team and we use Skype in our office to talk to each other. We use email to communicate to those colleagues outside from the UK.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given on the job training from previous intern and my manager. I can say that I was given fully support by them and so I can cope within the first two months of placement. It was informative during the start of the placement but luckily I am supported by the team.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As I am working in the finance team, I have much to do on the first two weeks of the month and less to in the last two weeks. But if any user having issue anytime, my team will have to solve it as soon as possible to avoid delay.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office is good and people will greet each other in the morning and before they leave. Other than that, the colleagues will ask question if they are not sure about anything to avoid mistake or doing a task twice. This improves the production of work and excitement.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The company set up very well for the placement and we have a good introduction to the company at the start of the placement. Then, we are introduced to the team member and the location of facilities and emergency exit and stuff. Overall, the company is organised for the interns.t

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The placement office location is in Luton , 30 mins train away from London. I would say that the expenses are reasonable as well as the monthly rent and bills. For the socialising cost, I think it depends on individual and mostly reasonable. I think the expenses are always depend on how you spend every penny.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are few pubs in Luton town centre and miles away have few more. You will easily find beer and stuff after work in town. You can always invite colleagues for a drink after work just to relax or relieved from work. The price of a beer is reasonable too.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The company organised a lot of different activities outside of work such as summer barbeque party, quiz night, social drink, football session after work and many more activities. Even the interns will organise some dinner after work to know more about each other. It's a good platform to know more outside of work.
