The Role
My work placement has been an enjoyable experience. I have had the chance to enhance my skills and undergo personal development. I have also been able to push myself to go the extra mile and have established new positive outlook on my personal and working life!
I always felt very valued as I was involved in many projects and was never treated as just an intern. When I came back from my holidays I was always given a warm welcome back. This made me feel much appreciated and I will definitely miss my colleagues.
My manager was absolutely amazing! He offered me a helping hand with any complications I had and always had the perfect solution. He was very understanding and we had regular weekly meetings which gave me an opportunity to self-reflect and pin point opportunities for self-development.
The workload increased gradually as time went on. Initially my manager’s main focus was for me to successfully settle into the full time working life. Once this was established I had the opportunity to undergo many projects and training to ensure I was comfortable with completing tasks at hand.
I was given many responsibilities such as taking full ownership of the award and recognition programmes. I also managed and implemented the on boarding and probation processes and was involved with executing mini projects. Such responsibilities always reassured me that I was a valued worker.
My skillset has significantly improved, I now possess a logical & analytical approach when problem solving with a positive attitude. I have also had various training and know this will benefit me in all aspects of my working and personal life in regards to successfully completing tasks.
The Company
The atmosphere is very friendly and always welcoming. We have a nice balance of getting your work done and also being able to socialise and have catch ups with your colleagues. We have a pool table which everyone loved! and during our lunch there are always many cheerful faces to interact with.
I cannot fault the set up. I believe everything was done accordingly and I don't believe there are any rooms for improvement, Everything was completed in a timely manner and i was always informed if anything was to change.
I was encouraged to go the extra mile and step outside of my comfort zone. This has allowed me to become an all rounded person and I have more confidence in myself. I was provided with feedback on areas for improvement and I had the opportunity to set targets.

Lumesse don't really have graduate schemes, as a result it is quite hard to acquire a job with them. This hasn't yet happened!
The Culture
The kitchen was always the place to go if you wanted to have a nice chat with anyone you stumbled across. All placement students got along and we built a good working relationship. During our lunch we usually sat together and had a laugh.
The cost of living definitely varied for the Placement Students, I believe with our salary it was more than enough to live on. The office is located close to the town centre which was good for shopping, bowling, trampolining, general fitness, cinema and many restaurants.
There wasn't really much choice in Luton for nights out so we tended to branch out to to Harpenden or London for our nights out.
There were quiz nights, charity events such as participating in Tough Mudder and football tournaments.
