The Role
I personally really enjoyed my placement year at Lumesse. I had a good relationship with all of my work colleagues and felt welcome right from the very start. The placement offered plenty of opportunities for development and I have really working in Lumesse. I would recommend a placement at Lumesse to any students looking for a placement year.
I always felt valued by my colleagues within Lumesse. My views were always taken into account by the team and my work was always appreciated. I was always regarded the same as a permanent member of staff and was never treated any differently. There were plenty of opportunities to socialize and network with the employees and they were always very welcoming.
My manager was very supportive and always made time for me when I needed assistance. They were very patient with me during my first few week in the role and gave me plenty of time to settle in to the new environment. I had regular weekly catch ups with my manager where we discussed the work I was doing and I received feedback on it. I can honestly say it was pleasure working with them.
Overall my work balance was really good and there was always something to do. However due to the various job duties my role had this tend to fluctuate. My manager would always check if I was okay with my workload and ensure that I had enough time to do what they required.
I was given a lot of job responsibility during my placement in terms of reporting and event management. I helped organize several of our companies events and regularly helped out with marketing campaigns by providing them with material they needed for the campaign to run. There are also a lot of opportunities to take on responsibility for social events e.g summer party, quiz night.
Throughout the year I learned many things, so many that its hard to list. I developed various skills such as Event Management and communication skills during my placement. But the stand out skills for me personally that I developed were my technical skills on applications such as Microsoft Excel and Salesforce as there is now a massive difference. I feel all of this skills will assist me in my studies and beyond into the world of work.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was mostly fun and vibrant but there are days where it can be quiet.
The placement was very well organised and my job duties were outlined from the very start. The duties did change throughout the year but that was the way the role naturally developed.
The company invested a lot into my learning and development. It offered a range of eCourses to further develop my skills and knowledge in certain areas. We also had some sessions as a group of interns to help with out skills on applications such as excel and powerpoint.
