    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The Internship was a learning curve and finding out how much a person can take and still continue working . It was a very repetitive job and at times was slightly either very good or very bad. The internship was able to take a bunch of people from all different backgrounds and allow them to work together as a unit , with all things the first time is not the most successful as I planned but gave me an insight into charity work and day to day scheduling. As a whole I did not manage to reach the goals i set out to but others did with the same training , the system works but its the commitment that needs to be solidified within the first few weeks.and its all down on the attitude of the person at hand

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Different people value different things from you and it has a lot of responsibilities above the job, I found that it is very difficult to please every one and can only do so much to get attention. I was able to be friends with mostly everyone but still felt slightly unappreciated when it became all about the results and nothing else.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • To start with it was intense and it continued to get support if you where doing well at the job , it became difficult to get attention when not doing well and I felt expendable at times making the job insecure and slightly confusing but overall the management team was always able to help me whenever i needed it and was able to help them where i could.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The typical started at 8 and then personall learning for an hour and then doing house jobs , Hub sessions started at 11-1 and work went till 9 with a half hour break to be home by 1030 latest followed by admin and dinner to be in bed by 1200, if planned well and in a routine there was a spare 2 hours , there was only 5 days off in the program and as a driver only had 2 days without driving which takes a lot out mentally. the days off where filled with activities and group things which didn't really give time to unwind. there where big weeks through the program which meant start work at 11 till 9 with an hour break which was also weekends. It made me realise how much time students can have in a day.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I did the internship as a Junior manager and a driver so more responsibility than i anticipated and it went in to the job itself making me frustrated with my own work. as a Junior manager it was my role to lead by example and i started trying to manage peoples emotions which was not my role. I also had a weekly presentation to do as well as delivering meetings and helping people improve and stay positive in the tough times.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It will help in life because its all based on the attitude and knowledge of the person, I learnt many skills that will help my final year of studies with time management and where i need to focus my attention on in the future, Talking to different people every day helped my communication and being the leader of a team will help me work in teams in the future in a different ways.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It started off very enthusiastic even though the region lost a large amount of people in the first few days which affected the general ethos of the people, i found that they would only either praise you or reprimand you to get you better, towards the end the region became slightly lazy and people lost their belief in what they where doing and it affected the general mood, there was a slight divide in the region and cliques being made which changed the mood of the people , it is a learning curve and it was fun to be in it

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • At times it was un clear as to what was going on there was a strong sense of time management but it came clear that there was no repercussions of being late which allowed people to take advantage of it and make every one else late . the days where repetitive so everyone new the schedule but still did not follow it due to some care free attitude.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As a leader the company put a lot of time into me to develop my skills they could improve with checking and following up on certain things and not letting things slide and snowball. there where many training sessions doing the same thing which became boring and a special appearance from Chris Eubank.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Car

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • At times they are very appealing but when doing the same thing day after day to get to it and truing to stay focused in the most challenging emotional environment is difficult and it it is appealing if your able to take it in and not let it affect you and be able to leave the bad stuff behind which i only realized at the end of the program. Future prospects would be an opportunity but not doing door to door sales.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The days of where few and where on a Monday so going out on a Sunday was a limited chance which ended up as house parties with the same people that you are working with. It was very difficult to separate the 2 and it would have been better if the day of was a Friday to relax before the big weekend. on the days of the region went to different things and activities which where fun and enjoyable.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • it was mediocre if you did it well you could save money but there was always something you had to buy or do with the region that cost money and ended up with little or no money and relying on friends to cover it and pay it back

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • It was limited and went out twice the rest where house gatherings

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • If time managed right then there was but to me no
