The Role
Enjoyed being the working environment very much, being able to comfortably work towards deadlines during the working day and then relax in the evenings is great! It's going to be very difficult going back to uni for another year!
After spending a year with the same team you do become part of the 'family', it's going to be very sad to leave!
Support was always given when asked for, but I was very much encouraged to try and find the answer on my own first (which is a very good thing).
This could vary quite a bit in terms of work that was appropriate for an employee at my level, however with a student-run project and individual research I always had something to be working on!
As you might expect from any placement I wasn't given high priority tasks as soon as I arrived! However towards the end of my time I was trusted a lot more!
I believe that working a full time job will definitely help my work ethic during my final year. As for beyond my degree working here has given me a great insight into how medium-large business' operate.
The Company
I would like to think that I had quite a relaxed office experience (with regular cake breaks!) At times stress levels seemed to run quite high but it was very balanced most of the time.
Considering, due to circumstances beyond my control, I arrived late to my placement it was very well organised even for me. I was given a thorough introduction and was introduced to the team very quickly. I can't speak for the other students but I always felt like I had an goal to work towards.
I was trained in all the tools and software that a graduate would be so as far as I was aware they company invested as much in me as they would in a graduate!
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Well considering all the experience I now have with them I would consider myself a very good candidate for employment, I guess we shall see!
The Culture
Very much so! Whilst on placement we have all become a very close group of friends, organising something between ourselves most weeks.
Coming from a very cheap area to rent in it was a bit of a shock to the system, but with moderate budgeting you shouldn't have cause to worry!
Chelmsford has may clubs, pubs and bars to choose from, so there's a huge range! Whether you want to go out with the other students or have a quiet drink, the places are there!
If you've got the drive there's loads going on in Essex, I tried out many new sports and clubs whilst I was here!
