    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement at Visteon, all the employees were great to work with and I felt like I was given a good amount of work and responsibility.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt like I was valued quite a lot since I was given real tasks that would have had to be done whether by a student or a full time employee. The tasks were definitely not just created to keep me busy.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • All of my colleagues were really helpful and willing to answer questions whenever I asked.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I felt like the amount of work was perfect overall, some days were busier than others which is to be expected, but overall I felt like I was busy and therefore useful to the company, without being so busy as to be stressed!

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a good amount of responsibility, I was trusted to do real tasks by myself and I felt like an integral part of the team.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The communication and organisation skills will definitely be useful in the future. A good amout of training was received and it was great to put it into practice over the year and to see it being put into practice around me, it will all be useful in the future.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was great, everyone was friendly and it was a great team to work in!

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was well organised, my manager had prepared a handover from the last set of students as well as a placement year syllabus. The HR department was less organised in terms of replying to emails prior to the start of placement and dealing with queries during the year. This didn't really affect me personally but I know it was a slight issue for other students at the company.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Training that would have incurred costs to the comapny was not provided to students, however the company provided a good amount of on site training from employees of the company.

    4/5

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Future employment prospects are appealing - the graduate starting salary is good, the current graduates that are employed at Visteon seem to be really enjoying their time with the company, and in general I've really enjoyed working at Visteon so if I was offered employment there in the future I would almost certainly accept it.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The large number of placement students (14) at the company meant that the social scene was great! However, I know that next year (2015-16) there will be less students taken on.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Compared to Bath (my university city), the cost of living and socialising in Chelmsford was cheaper. I think it is average for a city in the south.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife in Chelmsford is pretty good, there aren't many places to go out but the ones that are available are good fun!

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The company has a charity committee which arranged fundrasing activities. In the area in general, there are a good number of sports clubs and zumba etc.
