    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have learnt a lot in terms of both furthering my accounting knowledge and general life skills. I have always been busy and am always getting new responsibilities which keeps the work fresh and interesting

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • As a team of 3 I feel extremely valued within Cummins. I am basically fulfilling the role of a normal accountant which means am relied upon by both my manager and project managers to perform my job at a high level,

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • At cummins we are given 4 compulsory training sessions. These are on "adapting to a business environment, teamwork, presentations and customer support. Along with this we were given a three day introduction which helped us get to know our colleagues. I am confident with going to my manager with nay problems I have within work and they always take the time to go through the issues that I have. Cummins have also set up their own independent quarterly review to help you gain the most out of placement.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As I am within finance I am extremely busy within the first two weeks of the month. work dies down a bit the last two weeks however I am given projects to complete to normally improve processes which keep me busy

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • During month end I was given a number of journals and reconciliations to complete from the start and this has only increased as the time went on. I regularly attend meetings on behalf of more senior members of the team and am liaising with people from all around the globe on a daily basis.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Great atmosphere in the office. Everyone is always friendly and always there to help if you have any queries.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • 4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Like I have said before all the placements are given compulsory training. Apart from theses there are optional training that can be done online. In previous years Cummins have offered a bursary where the placemetns present what they have achieved over the past year to a panel and then the winners get £1500 for the last year of uni and a letter of intent for the graduate scheme for when the placement finishes university.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Healthcare/Dental

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • 4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Within Cummins there is a sports and social club which offers employees discount rates for activities from Han gliding to trips to Brussels and Disney Land Paris. The scial scene is really what you make of it with regards to the placements. We have set up five a side football in which 10 of us get together once a week however Ramsgate is really what you make of it.

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living is great but that's because it is Ramsgate. There is nothing in Ramsgate apart from a beach and pubs.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Canterbury is half an hour train ride. Ramsgate has a few pubs but most a bit dodgy.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 3/5
