The Role
I very much enjoyed it! The work I did allowed me to really contribute to the business and grow my skill set. I learned a lot about the company and there were great networking opportunities and intern activities organised.
I felt valued by my colleagues, and this was reflected in the ongoing feedback I received from all levels of seniority.
I was given the right balance between independence and support from my supervisor and other colleagues. They were very open to any questions I had and shared their time in explaining how the business worked and advising me on my personal development.
There was always something to keep you engaged, whether it was daily business activities, your individual project or presentations and networking.
The individual project offered a great opportunity to take ownership of a piece of work that added actual value to the business. The daily tasks I was asked to complete also offered responsibility and helped the team I was working with.
My Powerpoint and Excel skills have improved significantly through the internship and will assist me in my project work for my degree.
The Company
The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly but hard-working as well.
It was well organised as I was kept informed of what to expect prior to the internship and HR kept in touch with us throughout the internship and made themselves available to any questions and concerns.
The company invested a lot in our training and development. We had training in Excel and presentation skills during our induction as well as an overview of the company and its business. Throughout the internship we had numerous presentations and networking opportunities with senior leaders. Employees from various departments and levels of seniority were more than happy to set up an informational with interns. The company's own virtual learning resources were informative as well.
Company Parties/Events
If you perform well at work and establish a good professional network, there is a good chance of converting the internship to a graduate offer.
The Culture
We had various employee engagement events and these allowed you to bond with your colleagues and meet people from other teams and departments in an informal setting. The intern class also had their own events and these included a cocktail making class, a trip to the London Eye, a West End Show and a Community Outreach Day.
As it is London it can be expensive, but there are lots of deals you can get on food and entertainment.
You can do a lot in London at night. There are restaurants, museums, theatres, concerts, cinemas, there's a wide choice of activities.
