It was very enjoyable. The work was empowering, the community was supportive and the people you get to work with are inspiring. We got to work on a real world product which was entirely intern-owned. In our group, each of us played different roles each week, experiencing backend, frontend and middleware. Following an agile framework, we learnt how to ensure the scope of the project was well defined and develop a customer-centric mindset.
I enjoyed this internship to the max because even thought it was virtual Amex made sure that we had plenty opportunities to learn new skills, further develop the ones we already had and just enjoy ourselves in general. Everyone is approachable, even though I've never met someone, sending them an invite for a meeting or a simple message on slack, they responded to any question I had as soon as they had the time and if they didn't have an answer they redirect you to someone who most certainly does.
I enjoyed my internship more than I thought I would. At first I thought it was a shame that it wasn't going to take place in a real office for the full length of time, but working virtually was actually a great experience and I feel my team and I got as much if not more work done than we would have in the office. I'd definitely recommend and internship at American Express to anyone interested!
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship at American Express. I was very skeptical about what could be offered especially during the Corona situation but they really made the effort to give us something to do every single minute of the internship. There was not one minute was I lost or confused about what to do. The vast amount of talks from senior people was beyond what I thought they would offer so I was able to be in contact with people from Product to Finance to Technology VPs and directors.
I really enjoyed my internship, I think coming into the internship I was unsure how it was going to work in this virtual environment. However, I think asides from the fact we were working from home, it has been a really valuable experience and may have had more networking sessions that if the internship wasn't virtual. I have really valued the number of interactive activities I have been able to undertake along with the rest of my cohort as they have made me feel part of the Amex family even from my home.
I really enjoyed my internship at American Express, and it was a really unique opportunity given the fully virtual experience. However, it didn't feel virtual in many cases as I got to grips with work that will actually make a change to the business as well as networking and socializing with lots of different people in different departments from mine. The teams are all so welcoming and ready to help at every step of the way.
I really enjoyed the internship. We were given a very interesting project with a team full of helpful engineers and staff. Throughout the internship, I learned so much through the various meetings, tech sessions and talking to senior engineers.
This internship was one of the best experiences I have ever had in my life. It's extremely fun. I was waiting for the next work day to start so I can work more on the projects we were given. The internship helped me develop myself on both a personal level and a professional level. Everyone on the team were very friendly and would help me whenever I needed help, no matter if it was work related or not.
The internship was super enjoyable and a great way to spend my summer learning and networking with my fellow colleagues. I was able to meet new people, develop new relationships and work on a meaningful project that others would find beneficial. The experience I've gained from this internship is incredibly valuable and I've developed skills that I will carry with me into the future. Thanks for continuing the summer internship virtually - it has been amazing.
I had a great time during my virtual internship with Amex this summer (2020). Everyone was extremely welcoming and the company culture really shone through. My manager and team were incredibly helpful and provided me with valuable support and feedback throughout my 6 weeks. The curriculum provided by the campus team enriched my development so I concluded my internship having grown both as a business strategist but also as an individual. I would recommend this internship to any one who wants to learn more about financial services and the corporate world.
