Overview
I worked on a live code-base. My work included understanding the repos that I would contribute to, and implement certain functionalities as discussed within the sprint. I also attended Senior Leadership meetings, and had to opportunity to have coffee chats with my team and also those outside of my team. I primarily coded using React.

Responsibilities
Yes. Our particular project was a proof of concept task to prove how useful ML could be to software used within Amex. We were given a real deadline for when this work had to be presented to the leadership team. Despite this, however, we were given a lot of support to ensure we would get the work done on time, and it never felt overwhelming or unachievable.
Support & Guidance
A lot of support was provided, with someone always available to have a sit down with and help sort out any problems. You never end up feeling stuck for too long.
Culture
A very collaborative culture. Despite everyone working in their respective team, I never felt completely siloed from others and had many opportunities to talk to people from any part of AMEX. It is also quite relaxed and people work with a good attitude.
Your Impressions
It was a very enjoyable internship. I felt I learned a lot and was consistently supported whilst also being given the opportunity to take on tasks outside of my comfort zone and learn independently. Working with other interns has also been great - I've interned in places where you are the only intern; this is definitely an improvement. Thanks to my team at AMEX for making this such a positive experience!
Yes
Having coding experience is very useful, but I did not have any web dev experience before joining so do not let this discourage you from applying. I would encourage people to go through the Intrapreneurs Club's 3 week Amex Immersion Program as this can fast-track you to the internship if you are successful.
