The Role
Overall had a great time on my internship. The week of training at the beginning realy helped me settle in and meet the other interns, and I enjoyed the work I did.
I got on really well with my team and really missed them after I left! They were very supportive and would always have time to go through any problems or questions that I had and were keen to help me in any way they could.
My supervisor met with me numerous times to check up on my progress and to find out how I was finding the internship. She was always happy to answer any questions I had and I felt supported throughout.
It depended on the projects that I was working on - some days would be busier than others but on the whole I always had something to be getting on with.
I was given my own project to work on and present to my team at the end of my internship, and as the internship went on I was given more responsibility with tasks my team set.
I learned a lot about operations on my internship which has helped a lot with part of my undergraduate degree, and also valued the improvement in my interpersonal skills through the training in the first week and numerous opportunities to meet people from all over the business.
The Company
General atmosphere was good - really friendly people and fairly relaxed.
I felt very looked after on the internship - our first week was planned and structured well and we were able to do many different activities in this time. We had two review meetings in the middle and at the end of the internship which gave us a chance to get feedback on our performance and give our own feedback on the internship.
We were given training by an external company that also trains the graduates so
Subsidised Canteen
Have been offered a graduate role and have taken it.
The Culture
There was a good social scene amongst the fellow interns, there were a couple of events organised by the company but also lots of social things that we organised amongst ourselves.
It being the City, everything was pretty expensive. However, we were given a daily allowance to use in the company canteen which made the cost of living much more affordable. Socialising after work was much more expensive than what I was used to just because student life is much cheaper than it is in the City. It didn't get in the way of socialising, though.
I did not experience the nightlife much, but there are plenty of bars and pubs in the local area and the ones I went to were enjoyable.
I joined the netball team and played a few matches, and also got the chance to volunteer for a day at a school in West London.
