The Role
The internship was extremely interesting and I was always busy doing something new or learning something new. This meant I was never just sitting at my desk with no work and time flew.
By the end of the internship I had developed a good relationship with everyone in my team.
I was given a lot of support throughout my time, in particular by some people. This meant I always had someone who could answer my questions.
Very busy, which was a good thing! It started off a bit slow, but even then they gave me reading to do which was really key to understand what I would later be doing.
A fair amount, my main project is going to be used daily in pricing risks which is exciting.
Most likely not directly relevant to my degree, but my excel skills for example have advanced greatly, such that I will be able to use these productively in my dissertation research. Beyond my degree, the skills I have developed will definitely help me in my career, in particular just basic professional ones such as email etiquette.
The Company
Really nice and friendly with a good balance of hard work. Everyone got a long really well and there was a real sense of being part of a team.
Really well, the first week in particular had excellent structure and then it was up to the individual department. For me it was brilliant.
As I mentioned, the first week the company really invested in us. This was shown by a week long development and introduction to the insurance industry. Then in my department everyone made sure that they put time in their diarys to explain their individual division.

Getting on the graduate scheme is a great opportunity and a good way to do this is by getting an internship.
The Culture
Yes, there were drinks at least once a week after work and I also joined the netball team and played once a week.
Really quite expensive but manageable. Accomodation is by far what you will spend your wages on if you're not living at home, but thats the same for any internship in London.
Pretty good, but expensive. Being a student in London I know that the best affordable nights are on the week days which are obviously out of bounds while you're working.
Yes, I joined the netball team. There were also opportunities to volunteer.
