The Role
The placement was interesting experience of the industry and a good first step into engineering
People I worked with are lovely and provided very positive feedback for my work.
Support was not always available for the work due to being given untried tasks to do.
Reasonable busy at times but had periods of quietness followed by work with some very tight deadlines.
Was given a reasonable amount of responsibility to make decisions on my work so I could decide how to complete tasks.
The placement was good and gave a good insight into how the engineering industry works and how a company operates. Good exposure to real life skills and requirements.
The Company
Good atmosphere always lots of cakes around!
Quite well organised although the work itself didn't seem to be set up, had to wait for work to be given or found.
Had a reasonable amount of time put in when asked for and was also offered sponsorship for final year.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Above 25 days holiday
Have been encouraged to apply when I complete my degree.
The Culture
A little quiet sometimes really depends on other students or if you org anise something yourself but if you do people are generally up for it.
Managed to get quite cheap accommodation but I lived further away and not in the city.
Nightlife pretty quiet only a few clubs and it depends on your tastes, student nights were supposed to be fun but I didn't go on any of them.
Lots of sports and cycling opportunities available which seemed to be increasing along with charity work and volunteering.
