The Role
I really enjoyed my placement.
I mostly felt valued by my colleagues. They were generally warm and welcoming, and treated me like a member of the team.
I felt supported by my manger, and felt comfortable approaching her if I needed anything.
Most days I was busy, occasionally I didn't have much to do
I felt I was given a lot of responsibility and given real jobs to do, not just general office tasks.
I felt a learned some new skills to take with me in to my next role.
The Company
I found it a fun place to work. Everyone was clearly hard working, but took time out to share something funny or talk to each other.
The set up was pretty smooth, and I cannot say I encountered any major problems.
Not so much by means of training and development, but my manager was great in setting up inductions with other areas of Macmillan so I could get a gist of what it would be like working there.
I applied very early on for a job I wanted and was successful.
The Culture
Macmillan are very social, whilst that wasn't particularly important to me, it's just made the placement more enjoyable.
it's not the most expensive part of London here, I am used to the cost already living in South London.
Lots to do in Vauxhall. Not my favourite place in London to go, but still plenty of bars and pubs and places to eat including a Nandos which I love.
My calendar was non stop was invites to social stuff. Drinks after work, pub quizzes, I could not go to them all!
