The Role
Throughly enjoyed my placement sorry to end it. I've learned something new every day and been challenged to learn new skills and understand an area of work where I had little knowledge or experience.
All my collegues were very friendly and helpful. They made me feel like a member of the team straight away
Supported throughout by my line-manager with weekly 1-2-1's and daily catch ups where needed. I had a mentor however I was based in London and she was in Shipley so the pairing wasn't very well organised so I only spoke to her once throughout my internship
Completely depended on the day, generally every day was busy with every day tasks as well as meetings. If the work load was light I would assist other members of the team or enroll myself in online courses on the Learn Zone
Lots of responsibility- over seeing the intranet whilst my line manager was away. Contacting members of others teams and dealing with queries and any problems they had
I've learned such valuable skills whilst interning both in relation to new skills as well as realising that working for Macmillan or another charity would be an area I'd be particularly interested in
The Company
Every one is friendly and approachable. Every friday wine' O clock to help network and meet people
Very well organised however all the extra work I took on was my choice, not because I was bored but I wanted to learn as much as possible
very encouraging, happy for you to learn new skills and develop your interests in different areas
Healthcare/Dental
I've already applied for a job with Macmillan, I was unsuccessful but that hasn't put me off working for the organisation
The Culture
Very social lots of different events and activities to get involved in
Usual London prices lots of options of where to go. Close to tube and train stations
Lots of bars and restaurants near by but easy to get to central London
So many different opportunities including the London Marathon and London Takeover.
