The Role
The work was varied and interesting and the work I was doing really gave me a good insight into the organisation
It was clear, from the workload, that they would have struggled without an intern to do the work, which was nice, and they really did show their appreciation with good, regular feedback
I was, in the mian, left to get on with it, with guidance, due to the fact that I was trusted to do what was required
Most days there was plenty to do. A couple of days, less so, but then I just took the opportunity to look around their intranet to learn more about the organisation
I was given full responsibility to get my particular job done, and was allowed/encouraged to use my initiative
I didn't really learn any new skills, but I did learn a huge amount abiut how a charitable organisation works, and which type of roles would be suitable for me with my skills and experience
The Company
It was quite quiet, not much fun stuff going on, or so it seemed
It was very well organised, with a clear plan of what I was required to do
I had all the necessary skills required to do the job, but I was supported to meet with other job holders to learn about different roles within macmillan
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
I would dearly love to work for Macmillan. They do an amazing job for people affected by cancer
The Culture
Yes there was
The cost of living in London is the same as where I live, so it wasn't an issue
It was vibrant, as in central London almost
There were a number of opportunities to get involved with after work activity
