The Role
I really enjoyed the challenges I faced throughout my placement year
At SCJ you really work within a team and different departments and people recognise hard work
There are opportunities to have 121's with your team leader to check how things are going and if there are any problems to raise them
It would vary depending if there was a promotional period or any supply issues but generally it was a good balance.
I was given a customer portfolio of around 30 customers including a top 5 account.
The skills you gain are transferable because you work with so many departments you can see how the skills fit into each business area.
The Company
SCJ has a pretty relaxed office atmosphere, everyone knows when they can relax as things are going well but they also know when to work hard because things are busy.
Everything seemed to run smoothly throughout the year, they were prepared when everyone arrived and extended many of the intern contracts to last throughout the summer.
Depending on how involved you get in your position there are opportunities to try new skills and see how other departments work.
Subsidised Canteen
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
They don't offer a grad scheme but they do employ old interns after they graduate if there is a position avaliable.
The Culture
As a group of interns we went out a few times throughout the year as a group either to the cinema or for a meal to see how things were going for everyone
The cost of living in the area is what you could expect from being so close to London and in Surrey but the salary covers everything
In Frimley there is pretty much no nightlife but it is close to Guildford and London so there are places to go.
There are fitness classes like Yoga and TKD which a lot of people get involved in after work
