The Role
An unforgettable experience, both getting experience of work in an office but also for that wonderful feeling of directly helping people affected by cancer.
Very much part of the team, constantly supported.
They were great - with everything from project-related support to CV advice to pub recommendations.
Varied between bored and too busy
I had the opportunity to both develop my existing skills and acquire entirely new ones.
The Company
Though everyone was hard at work, there were always opportunities for socialisation or a casual conversation - and there were plenty of delicious treats about!
Different parts of the scheme - WBCM interns and UKO interns in particular - had wildly different experiences. Based in UKO with a specific project to work on, I felt like mine was probably one of the better experiences.
Amazing support in terms of personal development, CV feedback, and inductions to various areas of Macmillan's work.
The Culture
One of two pleasant trips to the pub, not much else.
Vauxhall isn't the cheapest place in the country.
It is, however, relatively good for nightlife.
Plenty of fundraising activities and fun ways to engage with Macmillan's work, from the World's Biggest Coffee Morning to fun runs.
