The Role
Work content was varied but mostly enjoyable.
In my particular area (I was a mobile intern) there was a strong, supportive team on hand.
My particular manager was very supportive. I knew she was on hand at all times if I needed assistance, and she also helped with my CV etc at the end of the internship.
Varied throughout the internship. Some weeks were very busy, others were less so.
Responsibilty to assist certain supporters, update Facebook and Twitter and write press releases were all given. Working from home meant quite a bit of autonomy
Helped me gain a further insight into what aspects I would/wouldn't look for in a future career.
The Company
I was a mobile intern so did not work from an office.
There were some initial teething problems and things did crop up during the internship at times but these were relayed either to the relevant team of to the internships manager so they can be addressed in future years.
Opportunities for local speaker training were provided to help with public speaking. There was an initial induction which was an introduction to different aspects of Macmillan.
Flexi Time
Working from home
Doing the internship was a valuable insight into my future career. I would like to work for a company like Macmillan in the third sector. I could view internal vacancies during my time at Macmillan however I was returning to University after the internship so did not do this.
The Culture
Social events were advertised but being a mobile intern I did not attend any.
Lived at home and expenses were reimbursed
I lived at home during the internship
Socials were advertised but I was a remote intern so was not in the right location
